Professor Dawn Forman
Who is she?
Dawn has been a free lance consultant and Senior Associate of Ranmore Consulting
for the past four years. As part of her portfolio during this time Dawn worked as a consultant for Curtin
University, Perth, Australia, travelling there twice a year and maintaining contact from the UK for the
rest of the year. As a result of this work Dawn was asked to take a three year contract with Curtin
University working on a full time basis as Professor and Clinical Director of the Curtin Health
Innovations Research Institute (CHIRI). Dawn’s role will be to provide strategic leadership, leadership
development and change management approaches in developing, implementing and evaluating an
innovative approach to “wellness” (prevention). This can only be achieved by working in partnership
with Curtin schools and research centres, industry partners, the community, government and nongovernment
organisations, professional bodies, agencies and health providers to improve health
outcomes, particularly in the areas of chronic disease, healthy ageing, indigenous health, population
health, mental health, and clinical and biomedical sciences.
Dawn has particular expertise in strategic leadership, team development, executive coaching and
change management, with extensive practical experience within Higher Education and Health Service
fields. She has been programme director for the Governor Development Programme and a member
of the team delivering the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education Top Management Programme.
She has published extensively on many aspects of Leadership and Management and is recognised
internationally for her expertise in Inter-Professional Education.
Dawn held the post of Dean and Professor for 12 years whilst she worked at the University of Derby
and Sheffield Hallam University. During this time she was involved in numerous cross-University
projects, including corporate and strategic planning at the time of merging a Further Education
College into the University of Derby. She was also a Non-Executive Director of Trent Strategic Health
Authority for 4 years.
Dawn has a MBA and PhD from a Business School, and is an accredited coach. Dawn is also an
Adjunct Professor at Auckland University of Technology and Chichester University, and European
representative for the Network: Towards Unity for Health, which is closely linked with the World Health
Organisation.
What can she offer?
Dawn has contributed to organisations recently in several ways including:
- Working with clients undertaking major change and restructuring
- Facilitating team development and conflict resolution
- Coaching individual executives in considering and undertaking significant career moves
- Providing key note lectures and facilitating workshops for Inter-professional Education both in the UK, Australasia and in developing countries
- Facilitating universities and awarding bodies with the employer engagement agenda
